MEC Race – June 25, 2017
The photo is of Heather Rambharack, Emelyn Bartlett, Paula Lipkus and Erika North putting our feet on the pavement in order to practice what we preach. It’s easier to give out prescriptions for exercise if you are trying it yourself. In this photo the four of us are getting in a dose of exercise in a fun and social way at the Beaches run on April 1st, 2017.

Continuing with trying to keep running/fitness social and fun at the NYFHT Erika North and Michelle Hyatt announced the possibility of doing another social and local run on June 25th. The run is sponsored and organized by MEC there are a variety of distances from 5k to ½ marathon at Tommy Thompson Park where Leslie street meets Lake Ontario. Here is the link for registering for a timed run/race that has the lowest entering fee I’ve ever seen!!

If you plan or would like to run then reach out to Erika or Michelle for info on meeting up beforehand.

If you haven’t run before and want to get some ideas about training, etc. MEC also offers free training programs through their stores and on their website.

Spring is here, summer is coming let’s get outside!Annual Forest Manor Spring Fair

On Mother’s Day weekend, the DEP team (Jessica and Marilyn) and community liaison/case worker Sabrina La Tona participated in the annual Forest Manor Spring Fair at Forest Manor Public School.

Not only were we able to meet with a number of community agencies to learn about their neighbourhood initiatives, we also met our City Counsillor Shelley Carroll who visited our booth!

We look forward to many more community outreach events coming up in spring/summer

Do you have adult patients with eating disorders who would be interested in participating in a research study about their eating disorder experience?

We are conducting a UTOPIAN-funded study to explore the primary care experiences of patients with eating disorders. This is completely voluntary and would involve a 30 minute in person interview with our research assistant. Participants will be compensated with a $50 VISA gift card and payment for parking costs.

If you have any patients who are interested, they can email our secure study email at: and our research assistant will get back to them.

Alternatively, if you can send me demographic data of patients in your practice who you think might be interested; I will send them a letter in the mail inviting them to participate in the study.
Patient lists can be sent to my office fax at 416 759 6979, or we can discuss via phone or in person. Thanks in advance.

– Dr. Kim Lazare
